Good to know: Cosmos are warm-season annuals valued for airy stems and repeat flowering. They generally perform best without excessive fertility, which can push leafy growth at the expense of flowers.

Sun: Full sun
Sowing: Direct sow after danger of frost has passed, or start indoors 4–6 weeks before transplanting
Sowing depth: About ¼ inch
Spacing: 9–12 inches
Care: Well-drained soil; avoid overly rich conditions that can encourage foliage over flowers
Tip: Pinch young plants for branching and cut regularly to encourage more blooms
Production note: Pinching young plants can encourage branching. Regular cutting and deadheading usually keeps plants flowering longer.
